The Gamakatsu Jigging Sabiki is a specialized, heavy-duty rig designed for more than just catching bait. Unlike standard lightweight sabiki rigs used for herring or sardines, this "Kuwase" style rig is built to handle significant tension and larger predatory fish.

Why Use This Rig?

  • Dual Purpose: While it can catch live bait, it is robust enough to land predators up to 3 kg (6-7 lbs), such as small Trevally, Snapper, or Groupers.
  • Short Leader Design: At only 90 cm, it is specifically designed to be used with a metal jig at the bottom. The shorter length prevents tangles when casting or high-speed jigging.
  • Reflective Accents: The hooks feature "flash" materials (often skin or tinsel) that mimic small shrimp or fry, triggered by the darting motion of your jig.

How to Rig It

  1. Top: Attach the top swivel of the Sabiki rig to your main leader (from your rod).

  2. Bottom: Instead of a standard sinker, attach a Metal Jig (20g–60g depending on depth) to the bottom snap.

  3. Action: Drop it to the desired depth and use a "lift and fall" motion. The jig provides the weight and visual attraction from a distance, while the Sabiki hooks provide small, "easy" targets for fish to strike.

Pro Tip: Because this rig uses a 40 lb main line, it is much stiffer than a standard bait rig. This makes it excellent for "Super Light Jigging" (SLJ) in reef areas where you might encounter sharp rocks or unexpected larger fish.
